American Theater Company has announced a high-profile 2007-08 season. In October, Michael Weber will direct a rare revival of the Harvey Schmidt/Tom Jones musical “I Do! I Do!”, starring Stef Tovar and Heidi Kettenring and possibly set in Chicago. Following the Christmas reprise of “It’s a Wonderful Life,” ATC will produce Richard Dresser’s new play “Augusta,” starring Kate Buddeke. In the spring, Steve Scott will helm a revival of Garson Kanin’s “Born Yesterday,” starring Gwendolyn Whiteside and John Sterchi. That will be part of a Kanin festival at ATC, celebrating the American writer’s work for stage and screen.
… A new block of tickets for “Wicked” goes on sale to the public Friday, covering performances from July 31 to Nov. 4. (Call 312-902-1400.)
… Actors Workshop Theatre says it intends to keep its hit production of “Equus” running for several more weeks. (Call 773-728-7529.)
… The House Theatre of Chicago is the first winner of Broadway in Chicago’s new “Emerging Chicago Theatre” award. The young, non-profit troupe will get $5,000 and (perhaps even more valuable) marketing support from the downtown operation.
