At some point in the past few years, moms on TV became, well, not so perfect.
On “Desperate Housewives” alone, the moms range from nitpicking Bree to scheming Lynette to bumbling Susan. On “Heroes,” Mama Petrelli told her super-hero sons that she knows all their secrets — and she’s got a few of her own. And what can you say about Carmela on “The Sopranos”? She loves her kids, but she practically cheered when her son’s fiance dumped him.
Tough love, Ma. Tough love.
One woman has been a throwback to the stay-at-home types of the past, however. June Cleaver-lite, if you will.
After taking care of seven kids, their friends and their families for 11 seasons, Annie Camden of CW’s “7th Heaven” can be considered the mother of all TV moms.
The long-running CW series ends Sunday with Annie and her preacher hubby, Eric, packing up the family to see America by RV.
In honor of Mother’s Day (and the series), RedEye looks at how other TV moms compare to Annie Camden.
