The O. Henry Prize Stories 2007

Edited by Laura Furman

Anchor, 432 pages, $14.95

This anthology, honoring O. Henry, writer of more than 250 short stories from 1903 to 1910, features stories that appeared in publications ranging from the venerable New Yorker to the newish Fence. A special dimension of this collection are essays by the prize-jury members on their favorite stories in the volume: Charles D’Ambrosio and Lily Tuck write about “The Room,” by William Trevor, while the third judge, Ursula K. Le Guin, writes about “Galveston Bay, 1826,” by Eddie Chuculate.
