* In a televised debate, Don Imus’ former producer called Rev. Al Sharpton a race-baiter who was looking for attention when he led a campaign to fire the radio host. Sharpton said Imus and his producer got what they deserved for making a racist, sexist remark on the air. Bernard McGuirk and Sharpton appeared Friday on Fox News’ “Hannity & Colmes” show.

* Bob Geldof, who organized the Live Aid and Live 8 concerts, criticized the Live Earth summer music events Al Gore is putting together, according to a Dutch news report Saturday. “But why is [Gore] actually organizing them? To make us aware of the greenhouse effect?” Punctuating his statement with an obscenity, he said everyone is “conscious of global warming.”

* Happy Mother’s Day to Sheryl Crow: The singer-guitarist has adopted a baby boy, born two weeks ago, she announced Friday on her Web site.
