*Kate Walsh is having a good week. ABC announced that the “Grey’s Anatomy” spinoff starring Walsh is a go — and she has announced her engagement. “I’m very, very, very happy,” she told People magazine of her engagement to Alex Young, a studio exec.

*Paris Hilton will spend at least 23 days behind bars for violating the terms of her probation but will be separated from the general inmate population, Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department officials said Wednesday. Hilton was sentenced to serve 45 days.

*In a new message posted Wednesday on her Web site, Britney Spears is thanking her fans for their support. Spears, who checked out of rehab in March, writes: “We are all lights of the world and we all need to continuously inspire others and look to the higher power. You are all in my prayers.”

*The Chicago Historical Society, parent of the Chicago History Museum, on Thursday is to present the Making History Awards for outstanding contributions to the city. Recipients are: Margaret Burroughs, DuSable Museum of African-American History co-founder; civic leader and arts patron Marshall Field V; Northern Trust Corp. CEO William Osborn; and Bulls and White Sox owner Jerry Reinsdorf.
