Baseball cards are another popular item with fans. Each player usually has many different cards made, but, in general, the more cards a player has, the more popular that player is.
Popularity and demand for baseball cards ebbs and flows, but Brian Fleischer, a price guide editor for Beckett Media, said Cubs cards usually sell better than those of their South Side rivals.
White Sox baseball cards were hot when the team won the World Series. Pitcher Mark Buehrle’s cards were in demand a few weeks ago when he pitched a no-hitter. Likewise, sales of Sammy Sosa’s Cubs cards were hurt when the issue of steroid use surfaced.
“Cubs cards do seem to sell a little better than the White Sox,” Fleischer said. “The Cubs seem to have more of a collector following.”
