Lois B. Rest, passed away on Friday, May 18, 2007, after a courageous battle with cancer. Lois was born on Jan. 9, 1924 to the late Julius and Ruth Bloomfield. She grew up in Chicago, IL and attended Lakeview High School and graduated from Lake Forest College. Lois’s greatest joys were her family and friends. In 1943, Lois married her childhood sweetheart Allan Rest and for 64 years raised their family in Glencoe, IL and Houston, TX. Lois is predeceased by her parents, Ruth and Julius Bloomfield. She is survived by her loving husband Allan Rest; adoring children Susan and Walter Pye, Ruth-Ann and Neil Sivers all of Houston, TX and Barbara and Ted Rouse of Winnetka, IL. She is also survived by her cherished and devoted grandchildren who lovingly referred to her as “Grammy,” Emily Wardell, Sarah Sivers, Emma and Isabel Rouse, Walter III and Cristina Pye, Jennifer and Adam Cox and Cristopher Pye. She is also the great-grandmother of five great-grandchildren; Lois is also survived by her beloved sister Jane Klein; niece Roberta (Merritt Deeter) Klein; cousin Carol Krugly; and many special cousins and dear friends. Services will be conducted on Sunday, May 20, 2007 in Houston, TX. In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions to be made to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, 2425 Fountain View, #280, Houston, TX 77057, or a charity of your choice.
