Mary-Kate Olsen is ditching her long-standing co-star, twin sister Ashley, and going it alone in a totally righteous role. The tiny twin is set to join the cast of Showtime’s “Weeds” next season and will play a devout Christian.
“‘Weeds’ isn’t your 8 o’clock family fare,” series creator Jenji Kohan told the Hollywood Reporter. “It’s an adult show with adult subject matter, and we’re confident Mary-Kate is right for the role.
“She came in and read with Hunter [Parrish, who plays Silas on the show] and was absolutely charming and real and seemed like a great fit. … Here we’ll see her in a whole new light.”
