Patrick Dempsey is revving his engine.
Watch for the “Grey’s Anatomy” star to be driving a pace car — the car that leads racers to the starting line — at the Indy 500 on Sunday, according to TV Guide.
Dempsey, co-owner of Vision Racing, an IndyCar series team, said he’d been begging the owners of the Indianapolis Motor Speedway for years to let him drive the pace car, and they “finally relented.”
Dempsey told TV Guide it’s been his dream to race in the Indy 500, but “to be honest I think my time has come and gone. That’s why I’m so thrilled to be driving the pace car. It’s the closest I’ll ever come to driving the Indy 500 at the Brickyard.”
