Dear Tom,
What questions do you get the most?
Jim Townsend
Dear Jim,
Based on readers’ queries over the years, here are the most frequently asked questions, in no particular order:
Can it be too cold to snow? (No.) Why do storms always miss my location? (Averaged over enough time, they don’t.) Why is the sky blue? (The air breaks sunlight into its component colors, and this happens most strongly to blue light.) Why don’t we break up hurricanes before they hit land? (Simply because we cannot. And nuking them, a frightening (and frequent) suggestion, won’t work either.) Is violent weather occurring more often now? (Probably not.) And recently: Is global warming to blame for all the storms we are having? (No.)
