Gerald A. Bodmer 72, longtime resident of Elmhurst passed away Friday, May 25, 2007 after a lengthy battle with lung cancer, cherished husband of 22 years to Marion (nee Young) and the late Mary Beth (nee Rice); loving father of Christine Bodmer, Julie (Michael) Dvorsky, Laura ( Michael) Mack, Linda ( Philip) Hendricks, Andrea (Adam) Ciavarella and Karin (Keith) Bucholz; fond step-father to Richard Young, Scott Young and Gregory Young.; beloved “Grandpa” to Brian, Meagan, Erin, Philip, Patrick and Beth and dear step-grandpa to Nick. Born in Chicago, Jerry attended St. Bernard’s grade school, graduated from Immaculate Conception H.S. in Elmhurst in 1952. In 1957 he graduated from Loyola University with a degree in Business and Accounting and was active in ROTC. He was employed by CNA for 40 years after proud service with the First Cavalry in Korea. Jerry served until his military retirement as Company Commander of B. Company, 129th Infantry, 33rd Brigade of the National Guard in Aurora as well as Operations Officer, Executive Officer and Adjutant of the Hqtrs, 33rd Brig. in Chicago. A member of Lionel Club, Mike’s Train House and both the National and State Train Collectors Association, Jerry has been well-known for his O-Gauge train collection. He was an enduring follower of the Cubs and Bears. Visitation at the Pedersen-Ryberg Mortuary,435 N. York Rd. Elmhurst on Tuesday , May 29, from 3 to 9 p.m. Funeral Wednesday, May 30, 9 a.m. from the mortuary to Mary Queen of Heaven Church, Elmhurst Funeral Liturgy 10 a.m. Interment with Military Funeral Honors at Mt.
