C.C. Sabathia tied for the league lead with his seventh win to help the Indians beat the Tigers for the second straight day, giving them a 1 1/2 -game lead in the AL Central. Sabathia (7-1) allowed three runs and six hits over eight innings. He struck out six and walked one.
Carlos Delgado ended a power drought with two home runs and five RBIs as the Mets beat the Marlins. Delgado hit his first home run in 47 at-bats in the third, added a three-run shot in the fifth for his first multihomer game since Aug. 22 and scored three times.
Miguel Tejada had three hits and a homer as the Orioles cruised past the A’s. Tejada put the Orioles ahead for good with a two-run homer in the first inning off Joe Kennedy. He has two home runs in three games after opening the season with two homers in his first 46 games.

Manager Bobby Cox is one ejection shy of matching the career record after he was tossed from Saturday’s game against the Phillies. Cox was ejected for the second straight game and the fifth time this season, leaving him one behind John McGraw’s record of 131.
The Tigers placed Fernando Rodney on the 15-day disabled list with biceps tendinitis, the latest setback for their bullpen. Detroit has been without Joel Zumaya (finger surgery), its other key setup man. Rodney is 1-4 with one save, a 4.71 ERA and 18 strikeouts in 19 games.
Joe Mauer is still not ready, though Twins manager Ron Gardenhire said the catcher is running at about 75 percent. He’ll have to get back to a full range of motion in his strained quadriceps before he returns. “He’s going to tell us. We can’t tell him,” Gardenhire said.
