Pablo Ozuna will be lost for about three months, and manager Ozzie Guillen fears his utility player could lose his effectiveness after undergoing surgery Monday to insert a plate and three screws in his fractured right leg.
“He was a guy with speed, he did a lot of good things for us,” Guillen said of Ozuna, who also suffered a torn right deltoid ligament Sunday. “Are we going to miss him? Yeah. We’re going to miss him like any of the guys because he’s a big piece in the club.”
Scott Podsednik believes his right adductor might be healthy enough for him to start a minor-league rehab assignment in one to two weeks.
“It’s just a matter of gaining more confidence with my footwork,” said Podsednik, who ran the bases before Monday’s game without favoring his leg or limping. “I have to mentally get over that hurdle.”
