Lake Michigan (Chicago lakefront) ** 1/2 Perch continue to do well in harbors, particularly at Montrose, biting on minnows and roaches. Decent catches also reported around McCormick Place and Burnham Harbor.
Lake Michigan (Northwest Indiana) *** Good coho action over Memorial Day weekend in 40 to 60 feet of water out of East Chicago on spoons, bodybaits, dodgers and flies. Anglers have had some success with lake trout at 110 feet on spoons and bodybaits. A few steelhead reported.
Lake Michigan (Lake County) *** 1/2 Coho still hitting straight out of Waukegan Harbor in 70 to 90 feet of water on spoons. Season is expected to last another two to three weeks. Shoreline anglers also finding success. Perch slowly moving in and should accelerate if weather stays warm.
Southeast Wisconsin *** A few browns and coho caught by Kenosha shore anglers on silver spoons; trollers getting coho close to shore. Trollers also hitting limits near Racine on small dodger-and-fly combinations. Racine shoreline anglers report good coho catches.
Chain O’Lakes *** Bluegills biting well, in shallows on small fatheads and waxworms. Walleyes biting in weeds in 8 to 10 feet of water. Smaller catfish caught in shallows and channels, on night crawlers and stinkbait.
Kankakee River *** Largemouth bass good in Indiana and Illinois bayous on sluggos, spinner baits and plastic worms. Smallmouth good around Momence Island Park through Terese Island and around Wilmington.
DuPage County preserves ** 1/2 Black crappie — 10 to 12 inches — caught on jigs and minnows. Bluegills active at Deep Quarry Lake on redworms with slip bobbers off of piers. Bass action good at most of the district lakes.
