John R. Selander, age 59, a Naperville, IL resident for seven years, formerly of Wheeling, IL, died Wednesday, May 30, 2007 at his home. He was born January 19, 1948 in Oak Park, IL. Loving husband of the late Jeanne R., nee DiVall, Selander, whom he married Sept. 15, 1979; beloved father of Michelle, Christine, Katherine and Megan Selander; devoted son of the late Roland and Marie Selander; dear brother of the late Robert (Marge) Selander; fond uncle of Alison, Andrew and Dennis Thurow, Robbie (LeAnn) Selander and Jennifer (Glenn) Hull; adored son-in-law of Bob and Ann DiVall; adored brother-in-law of Linda and Diane (Mark Thurow) DiVall. John grew up in Des Plaines, was a 1966 graduate of Maine West High School, Park Ridge and held degrees from Embry Riddle Aeronautical University, Daytona Beach, FL and Roosevelt University, Chicago, IL. He was employed for 20 years with Kraft Foods, Northfield, IL and was a former member of St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Church, Wheeling, IL and currently was a member of St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church, Naperville. John loved gardening, planes, golf, bowling and barbequing, but he got the most joy from watching his daughters grow up and being part of their many school activities throughout their young lives. He was an enthusiastic Chicago Cubs and Bears fan. Visitation will be Sunday, June 3, 2 to 7 p.m. at Friedrich-Jones Funeral Home, 44 S. Mill St., Naperville. Services will begin Monday, June 4, at 9:15 a.m. from the funeral home and will proceed to a 10 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial at St. Margaret Mary Church, 1450 Green Trails Dr., Naperville.
