Right fielder Vladimir Guerrero hit a two-run walk-off homer off Chris Ray, giving the Angels a 4-3 victory over the Orioles after being held to one hit through seven innings by Jeremy Guthrie. The drive to left-center was Guerrero’s 350th career homer.

Alex Rodriguez hit a solo shot on an 0-2 pitch with two outs in the ninth off Red Sox closer Jonathan Papelbon to give the Yankees a 6-5 victory. His 20th HR gave him at least 20 for the 12th straight season. He is 7-for-15 with four homers and 11 RBIs in the ninth inning.

Astros closer Dan Wheeler yielded a pair of long balls in the 10th inning of an 8-6 loss to the Cardinals. So Taguchi and Albert Pujols did the damage after Wheeler had pitched a perfect ninth and got the first out in the 10th. The Astros have lost 14 of 17.

Royals starter Scott Elarton lost for the sixth time in six career starts against the Devil Rays, giving up four runs and six hits in 5 2/3 innings in a 5-1 loss. He has allowed 27 earned runs and 41 hits in 28 1/3 innings (8.58 ERA) in his six outings against Tampa Bay.

Andre Ethier’s two-run homer in the eighth off Salomon Torres finished off the Dodgers’ five-run comeback in a 5-4 win over the Pirates. Torres, who lost his closer’s job after blowing a 2-0 lead in the ninth Thursday, yielded four hits and two runs in one-third of an inning.
