I LOVE …
… Red, White and Q [15800 S. Bell Rd.] in Homer Glen. Ribs, pulled pork, catfish … everything I’ve tried has been great. It’s a very casual place and the owners are exceptionally nice and friendly. Great barbecue!
Pat Hanrahan, Western Springs
… the Chicago Food Market, 2245 S. Wentworth [in Chinatown], which has the cheapest live lobsters in town ($9-$15 per pound). They’re cash only, but usually half the price of other places that sell them. Worth the trip!
— David Perry, Chicago
… the Half Shell [676 W. Diversey Pkwy.], the garlic dressing on the salad, the fried shrimp and perch and, of course, the atmosphere.
— Margie Brandt, Vernon Hills
I HATE …
… people who stop at the top or bottom of the escalator so the people who are coming behind them have no place to go.
— Doug Hartman, Kenilworth
… when parents use local public places (like the library, for example) as a baby-sitter for their child(ren).
— Kathryn C. Johnson, Elmhurst
… when I go to the petites section of a department store to buy a blouse and find all of them have been hung more than 6 feet above the floor, and are therefore unreachable by a 5-foot-tall woman. Don’t the managers know what “petite” means?
— Gloria Kaplan Sulkin, Chicago
