Dear Tom,
I have read that we have the capability of weather modification, and it will become a part of domestic and international security and that weather modification could be done unilaterally. If we can do this, why aren’t we controlling tsunamis, hurricanes and other terrifying weather occurrences, or are we controlling them?
Stacey Gold
Dear Stacey,
Weather modification, implying the ability to control or prevent disastrous weather occurrences, is far beyond man’s capabilities. Don’t look for it anytime soon, if ever. Quite simply, we lack the technological ability to control the weather (though many schemes, some quite far-fetched, have been proposed). An additional comment: Tsunamis are geological, not atmospheric, in origin; they are not caused by the weather.
