THREE UP

Albert Pujols had two HRs and five RBIs to lead the Cardinals past the Angels 9-6. It was his 19th career multiple-homer game and his second in eight days. Six of Pujols’ 15 home runs have come in the last seven games, including two at Houston on June 3.

Mark Grudzielanek homered and drove in five runs in the Royals’ 17-5 rout of the Phillies. Grudzielanek was 3-for-5 and tied his career high for RBIs. He hit a two-run homer off starter Jamie Moyer. Grudzielanek later got a two-run single and an RBI double.

Ryan Spilborghs hit a solo homer and a three-run blast and drove in a career-high six runs — all that the Rockies scored in their 6-1 victory over the Orioles. Since being recalled from Triple-A Colorado Springs on May 19, Spilborghs has 12 RBIs in 17 games.

THREE DOWN

Tom Glavine (5-4) gave up nine earned runs for just the second time in his career — and for the first time in eight years — in the Mets’ 15-7 loss to the Tigers. Glavine gave up a season-high 11 hits and lasted just 4 1/3 innings, his shortest outing of the season.

Jason Schmidt gave up nine hits and six earned runs in four-plus innings in L.A.’s 11-5 loss to the Blue Jays. It was his second start since being sidelined 7 1/2 weeks because of shoulder bursitis. He allowed one hit in six innings Tuesday in San Diego.

The Athletics shut out the Giants for the second straight day, 2-0, completing a three-game sweep. The Giants have lost 12 of 16 and have been swept in two straight home series for the first time since their ballpark opened in 2000. Rockies swept them May 25-27.
