Former White Sox catcher Miguel Olivo chopped a bases-loaded double into left field in the seventh inning off Fausto Carmona, providing the Marlins with all the runs they needed in a 3-0 victory over the Indians in a rematch of the ’97 World Series won by the Marlins.
The offensively challenged Nationals finally had a good night in a 7-4 victory over the Orioles. Felipe Lopez ended an 0-for-19 skid with a go-ahead two-run double in the fourth. The Nats, who entered Tuesday last in the NL in runs, also had three homers.

First baseman Adrian Gonzalez made costly fielding errors in back-to-back innings in the Padres’ 11-4 loss to the Devil Rays. Gonzalez’s first error came with two outs in the seventh, allowing the go-ahead run. His error in the eighth opened the door for Carlos Pena’s grand slam.
After winning two of his first three starts, Kevin Millwood has slumped. In a 7-5 loss to the Pirates, he allowed six runs (five earned) on eight hits in 4 1/3 innings in dropping his fifth straight decision. Millwood, whose ERA rose to 7.82, has not won since April 13.
Once was an accident, twice was a trend and three was a problem for Mets starter John Maine, who gave up homers to Wilson Betemit, Matt Kemp and pitcher Hong-Chih Kuo on consecutive pitches in the second inning in loss to Dodgers.
