Vernon P. Schultz, age 72, of Alabaster, went home to be with his Lord on Friday, June 8, 2007. Vernon was born and raised in Blue Island, IL, where he earned his Eagle Scout Award. He attended Thornton Junior College, Harvey, IL, and the University of Chattanooga, TN, graduating with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Political Science. At the University of Chattanooga, TN, he was president of the Sigma Chi Fraternity. He attended Kent School of Law, Chicago, IL. While serving in the army, he received the Most Valuable Military Police Award. In Chicago, IL, he was an insurance broker for Provident Life Insurance Company, then moved to Peoria, IL, as the company’s District Manager. Later he was a broker from John Hancock Financial Services in Peoria, IL. After retiring and moving to Alabama, he worked with Guardsmark Security, and then served as Facilities Manager at Evangel Church PCA for several years. He was a member and had served as a deacon at Evangel Church PCA. He was predeceased by his parents, Judge Maurice J. and Ethel Schultz of Blue Island, IL; and his brother, Frederick E. Schultz of Kelowna, British Columbia, Canada; he is survived by his wife, Mary Anne Schultz of Alabaster; daughter, Laura (Steve) Olson of Chesterfield, MO; son Maj. Paul (Sybil) Schultz of Warner Robins, GA; grandchildren, Joshua Olson and Caleb olson of Chesterfield, MO, and Taylor Schultz and Dakota Schultz of Warner Robins, GA; sister, Sandra L. Harmeyer of Conroe, TX; mother-in-law, Agnes P. Boggs of Jasper, TN; brother-in-law, Phillip A. Boggs, Jasper, TN; nieces and nephews. Memorial service will be held at 2 p.m., Friday, June 15, 2007, at Evangel Church PCA, Alabaster, AL, with Dr. Jeff Lowman officiating. Inurnment will be at Pine Grove Cemetery, Jasper, TN, at a later date. In lieu of usual remembrances, memorials may be directed to Evangel Church PCA, or to Alzheimer’s Association of Central Alabama. The family would like to extend special thanks to friends, family, New Beacon Hospice and Evangel Church PCA for their prayers and support.
