Jessica Alba played a stripper in “Sin City,” but she refused to go topless because, she said, her father would flip his lid.
A scene in the original “Fantastic Four” called for Alba, who plays Sue “The Invisible Woman” Storm, to suddenly appear in her underwear after stripping down while invisible — but it, too, was tastefully shot.
There’s a reason Alba is put in such provocative positions, of course: She’s hot, maybe one of the hottest heroines to hit the big screen. (Our apologies to the Incredible Hulk.)
“Sue is a great role model for young women and young men as a girl they would want in their life,” Alba said recently, according to an Australian newspaper. “Not a lot of movies have such a sweet message. It’s about the family and sticking together through thick and thin.”
Has America ever enjoyed a more delightful mix of hot and sweet? (Our apologies to honey chipotle glaze.) Here’s how Alba stacks up against other smokin’ silver screen heroines.
Angelina Jolie
“Tomb Raider”
If any actress could’ve filled video game vixen Lara Croft’s shorts, it was Jolie. While the adoptress has moved on to more serious fare, she brought big-time ‘tude (and lips) to the role — so much so that she starred in a sequel.
Halle Berry
“Catwoman”
The red-hot Oscar winner looked sleek in her strategically torn, black vinyl cat suit. Unfortunately, critics came to her movie with their claws out, and the blockbuster flop didn’t exactly make audience members shout “Me-ow!”
Famke Janssen
“X-Men” films
As super-psychic Jean Grey, the sexy Janssen probably didn’t have to use her powers to know what fanboys were thinking whenever she was on screen. But — sigh — the shapeless, molded rubber of her first X-Men costume didn’t flatter her.
Hayden Panettiere
“Heroes”
An indestructible superhero who wears a cheerleading uniform? To borrow a phrase, that’s hot. As Claire, Panettiere has found a breakout role on NBC’s breakout show. Let’s face it: Never is a hero more attractive than when she’s popping her dislocated shoulder back into place.
Jennifer Garner
“Elektra”
While the movie was nothing to write home about, Garner was a vision in red in her killer assassin costume — a major step up from the Twizzler-esque mess she wore to play the same role in “Daredevil.”
