THREE UP
Cliff Lee beat another NL team. The Indians left-hander shut down the NL’s top scoring team, holding the Phillies to one run over seven innings — his longest start since May 8. It was just his second win in six starts, but he improved to 10-1 in interleague play.

The Tigers defeated the Nationals 9-8, but only after withstanding a three-run rally against Todd Jones. The closer gave up five straight hits to open the ninth, including Cristian Guzman’s two-run triple and Felipe Lopez’s RBI single before getting out of the inning.
In a 5-3 loss to Kansas City, Cardinals starter Adam Wainwright hurt himself in the field. He committed his first two errors of the season in the Royals’ one-run first and his unsuccessful sliding attempt to glove a popped-up bunt led to a two-run fourth.
