Mary Bender, passed away June 17, 2007, born and raised on the west side of Chicago. During World War II, she was employed at the U.S. Army Quarter Masters. In 1946 she relocated with her mother Bessie and sister Fannie to Los Angeles where Mary and Fannie remained until June of 2005. Upon returning to Chicago, they have resided at the Lexington Nursing Care Facility in Wheeling, IL. Devoted daughter of the late Louis and Bessie Bender; preceded in death by her siblings Eva (William) Polisky, Hyman and Rachel Bender; survived by her much loved sister Fannie Bender; second mother to her adoring and caring niece, Judith L. Gross (Seymour) and nephew Lester Polisky; special great-aunt to her much loved nieces and nephews as well as great-great-aunt to many. Services Friday, 12 Noon at Weinstein Funeral Home, 111 Skokie Blvd. Wilmette. Interment P.O.W. Cemetery, Waldheim. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Heartland Hospice, 2235.
