Boys in the ‘hood

Getting caught in the crossfire of shameless flirting can be perilous. So who better to tackle such a “Dangerous” story than London-based Shamelessboyz Theatre Company? The new all-male adaptation of Pierre Choderlos de Laclos’ novel “Les Liaisons Dangerueses” takes a comic, witty look at gay love, lust, seduction and betrayal in this kickoff to Bailiwick’s 2007 Pride Series. 8 p.m. Through July 1. $30. Bailiwick Repertory Arts Center, 1229 W. Belmont Ave. 773-883-1090.

Move it

This year, Chicago SummerDance is shaking up its Grant Park formula and hosting satellite parties around the city. The first in the On the Move series features a North Side dance lesson in East Coast swing with Ana Damen (6 p.m.) and live music by The Outcast Jazz Band (7 p.m.). Free. Athletic Field Park, 3546 W. Addison St. 312-742-4007. Find a complete SummerDance schedule on metromix.com.

Park dreams

If good apartments weren’t so hard to find, we’d pack a bag, stuff our junk in storage and pitch a tent in a park for the summer. For now, we’ll settle for picnicking under the stars and watching a flick before heading home to bed. Grab a blanket and watch “Dreamgirls” in Fuller Park as part of the Chicago Park District’s Movies in the Parks series. 8:30 p.m. Free. 331 E. 45th St. 312-742-7529.

Eat your words

It was a sad day when you had to put your Chia Pet to sleep, but it proved your green thumb theory. (Uh, that you lack one, that is.) Try your luck again, outdoors, after learning how to plant and cultivate sweet potatoes, greens, okra and black-eyed peas at a “Soul Food and Other Themed Gardens” class. 6 p.m. Also offered at 10 a.m. Saturday. Free. Demonstration Garden at Garfield Park Conservatory, 300 N. Central Park Ave. 312-746-5100.

FRI 6/22

Flavor dynamics

What do you get when you pair 50 local chefs with an open bar and a silent auction? The 15th annual Great Chefs Tasting Party. Sample dishes from Cuatro (2030 S. Wabash Ave.), Grotto on State (1030 N. State St.), Nacional 27 (325 W. Huron St.) and more. 5 p.m. $100. Proceeds benefit United Cerebral Palsy Association of Greater Chicago. Sheraton Chicago Hotel & Towers, 301 E. North Water St. 312-464-1608 ext. 25.

Party animals

Despite its earnest name (and the fact that we typically reserve visiting the Lincoln Park Zoo for out-of-town relatives), Jammin’ at the Zoo gives us a trio of reasons to rock out, outside. The three-part series kicks off this week with Everclear and the J. Davis Trio. Toad the Wet Sprocket and Glen Phillips (July 27) and Los Lobos and The Lee Boys (Aug. 24) round it out. 7 p.m. $20-$25. Proceeds benefit Lincoln Park Zoo. Tickets online: lpzoo.org. 2200 N. Cannon Drive. 312-742-2283.
