Fire engulfs an abandoned warehouse in Philadelphia early Wednesday, collapsing the roof and forcing about 100 residents to evacuate nearby homes, authorities said. Eight other properties and two parked cars caught fire. Firefighters rescued a man from the second floor of the building, Fire Commissioner Lloyd Ayers said. The fire broke out shortly before 4 a.m. and spread quickly through the five-story brick building, a former textile warehouse, officials said. The cause had not been determined.
