The Cubs-Sox series always tends to bring out the best in baseball fans throughout the city. While most cheer for their favorite of the two teams, some find themselves cheering against the other.
Each year, dozens of street vendors sell anti-Cubs and anti-Sox gear outside the Cell and Wrigley Field. There are shirts that read “Sux” rather than “Sox” and a shirt that uses the same capital “C” from the Cubs logo to spell out “Chokers.” If you look hard enough, you can find these slogans on buttons, hats, mugs, mouse pads, clocks and aprons.
Among the other sayings we found:
* Following Sosa’s corked bat incident, shirts that read “Cork” rather than Cubs
* “Don’t tell me about billy goats and curses, just win”
* “The Big Skirt,” for former Sox Frank Thomas (right)
* “Flubs”
* “Sox suck”
