The Midwest Business Group on Health is hosting a luncheon featuring Regina Herzlinger, Harvard Business School professor and author of “Who Killed Health Care?”

Herzlinger’s health-care analysis and research of market-driven health and consumerism led to her early predictions of the unraveling of managed care and the rise of consumer-driven health care and health-care-focused factories, two terms which she coined.

In her book, Herzlinger discusses the motives and methods of figures in the insurance, hospital, employment, governmental and academic sectors, who have hindered the U.S. health-care system while she outlines a new plan for a consumer-driven system that will deliver affordable, high-quality care to everyone.

The event will include a stakeholder reactor panel comprised of employers, health plans and providers. Luncheon participants will receive a copy of Herzlinger’s book.

The luncheon is taking place from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Tuesday at The Swissotel, 323 E. Wacker Drive. The cost to attend is $25 for members, $100 for MBGH partners, and $150 for non-members.
