Actor Rufus Bonds Jr. is expected back onstage for the Tuesday evening performance of “The Color Purple” at the Cadillac Palace Theatre after suffering from dehydration during Friday night’s show and having to leave the stage.
“He had a virus and was a little dehydrated,” said show spokesman David Rosenberg. “They did temporarily stop the show and restart with an understudy.”
Bonds — who plays Mister — was checked out by a doctor after becoming ill during the second half of Friday’s performance, Rosenberg said. He missed performances on Saturday and Sunday. No performances are scheduled for Monday.
He was initially expected to return for Sunday’s 2 p.m. matinee performance, but felt he should take another day to recover, Rosenberg said.
