Freudian slip

What would Sigmund Freud say about loitering on street corners at all hours of the night? Ask him yourself. The “father of psychoanalysis” has been revived, artistically speaking, by Czech artist David CernY as part of Prague Days in Chicago. His “Man Hanging Out” installation is hanging, literally, from the top of Columbia College Chicago’s 15-story Alexandroff building. 5 p.m. opening reception. Stop by for a peek at the sculpture through Aug. 31. Free. 600 S. Michigan Ave. 312-861-1037 ext. 102.

Nice work

You’ve already managed to land in the doghouse this summer. Want to get out for good behavior? Unleash your inner party animal at Good Times for Good Kids, a benefit for the Sue Duncan’s Children’s Center. The patio party includes an open bar of cocktails, beer and wine, $1 hot dogs, $2 burgers and $3 chicken sandwiches. 7 p.m. $35. Zella, 1983 N. Clybourn Ave. 312-970-8528.

FRI 6/29

Shel, yeah!

Who could forget Shel Silverstein’s freewheeling illustrations and zany poems in treasured tomes such as “Where the Sidewalk Ends”? Born Naked Theatre Company reworks his vignettes for the stage in “An Adult Evening Of Shel Silverstein.” But before you stoke an appetite for cutie-pie ditties, be warned: This R-rated version of twisted vignettes dishes the dirt on, well, dirty. 8 p.m. Friday-Sunday. Through July 15. $15. Gorilla Tango Theatre, 1919 N. Milwaukee Ave. 773-598-4549.

Shorties’ shorts

Will an infinite number of “Ocean’s” sequels snuff out the future of original filmmaking? Leave your crystal ball at home and take a peek of what’s to come at the Future Filmmakers Festival. The showcase features shorts by directors under age 20, including Salvadore Huerte’s “I’m Not Mexican,” Jhovani Linares’ “A Pianist’s Arpeggio” and Peter Gundling’s “Super Kitten and the Great Cheese Robbery.” Screenings start at 11 a.m. Saturday-Sunday. See metromix.com for schedule. Free. Film Row Cinema of Columbia College, 1104 S. Wabash Ave. eighth floor. 312-683-0121 ext. 117.
