Thank you for exposing the horrible service at the Chicago post office (“First-class mess,” June 25 cover story). I have had several problems with them over the past year, including:

1. Our mail carrier has been dumping the mail on the floor of my apartment building’s lobby for over six months now. All of the tenants of the building have repeatedly complained to the post office, but nothing has been done.

2. Many of the packages I mail arrive at their destination weeks late, or not at all.

3. I attempted to place my mail on hold when I went on vacation a couple of months ago, and the clerk at the post office I went to looked at me like I was crazy and told me I was wasting her time.

Something needs to be done.
