1. ‘The Haunted Mansion’

7 p.m., WLS-Ch. 7

Based on a theme-park attraction, this 2003 comedy stars Eddie Murphy and Marsha Thomason as married real-estate agents Jim and Sara. Sara is invited to check out a house for a future sale but it coincides with the family vacation. So everyone takes a little side trip that turns out to be far more than they expected. Wallace Shawn, Terence Stamp and Marc John Jefferies co-star.

2. ‘Das Boot’

7 p.m., AMC

Wolfgang Petersen’s harrowing portrait of a Nazi submarine crew facing the horrors of war on its first tour of duty originally saw light as a six-hour TV mini-series. This re-edited 1981 theatrical release held audiences spellbound and copped six Oscar nominations: cinematography, direction, sound-effects editing, film editing, sound and screenplay adapted from another medium. Jurgen Prochnow stars.

3. ‘A Prairie Home Companion’

7 p.m., HBO

Garrison Keillor’s popular radio show gets screen treatment from veteran director Robert Altman, who applies his trademark multiple-subplot, character-crossover technique in forecasting the behind-the-scenes antics of the show’s last broadcast. Meryl Streep (center), Woody Harrelson and John C. Reilly play performers on the program; the terrific ensemble cast also includes Tommy Lee Jones, Kevin Kline, Lindsay Lohan (right), Virginia Madsen, Lily Tomlin and Keillor (left) himself.

4. ‘Unbreakable’

8 p.m., Sci Fi

It didn’t make the splash that “The Sixth Sense” did, but this 2000 follow-up reteaming of star Bruce Willis and director M. Night Shyamalan is compelling in its own way. That’s due in large part to the other star, Samuel L. Jackson.

5. ‘Medium’

9 p.m., WMAQ-Ch. 5

What does a kid trapped in a well have to do with a dead congressman? That’s not a riddle: That’s the situation Allison (Patricia Arquette) finds herself dealing with in this episode.
