Katie Couric said the move to CBS would have been less appealing if she had known she’d be doing a more traditional evening news broadcast like the one she does now. Under the new executive producer, the “CBS Evening News” focuses on hard news like its predecessors and current competitors. But that’s not what Couric wanted. If she had known that would happen, the job “would have been less appealing to me. It would have required a lot more thought,” Couric said in an interview with New York magazine, The Associated Press reports. “People are very unforgiving and very resistant to change. The biggest mistake we made is we tried new things.”
