I LOVE …

… the gorgeous plantings along Lake Shore Drive. The entire length is so well done. It changes beautifully over the course of the seasons and makes for a very pleasant commute.

— Carrie M. Collin, Chicago

… the staff at Northwestern’s Robert H. Lurie Cancer Center, from the doctors to the nurses, technicians and receptionist. They are all truly angels. I have never met a more caring group of people. They have made my battle with cancer more bearable.

— Katherine McMahon, Chicago

… in the summer, tucking away in a morning-gloried-trellis, page-turner in hand, with a black cow float in the waiting. And I wouldn’t be disappointed if a hummingbird made an appearance.

— Sheila Barkes, Mishawaka, Ind.

— Arlene Fear, Chicago

… people who have conversations (about ridiculous topics) on the train at 6:15 in the morning, disregarding the majority of riders who want to read the paper.

— Doug Hartman, Kenilworth

… when you visit a farmers market for the first time and there are just four stalls, two selling berries and two selling baked goods. Some markets are huge, some are skimpy.

— Trine Tsouderos, reporter
