1. NFL preseason football

The Denver Broncos and San Francisco 49ers kick off their preseason schedules with this game from Monster Park in San Francisco. For the Broncos, it’s the beginning of the Jay Cutler (above) era, as the strong-armed quarterback replaces the traded Jake Plummer in directing coach Mike Shanahan’s offense. In San Fran, it’s year three of Mike Nolan’s tenure on the sidelines, and even though these games don’t count, it would be nice to start it with a win.
2. ‘Kyle XY’
7 p.m., Family

3. ‘The New Adventures of Old Christine’
7:30 p.m., WBBM-Ch. 2
Richard (Clark Gregg) is hired to work on Lindsay’s (Alex Kapp Horner) house. Christine (Julia Louis-Dreyfus, right) fears he’ll mess up and hurt their standing with the “mean moms,” so she tries to micromanage the project, which drives him nuts.
4. ‘Hell’s Kitchen’
8 p.m., WFLD-Ch. 32
The slicing and dicing — not to mention the sweating and swearing — come to an end with the season finale of the reality series. One last challenge will determine which of the contestants who started the show has the right stuff — as determined by tart-tongued host Gordon Ramsay — to run a restaurant.
5. ‘The Closer’
8 p.m., TNT
The departmental psychologist has taken Brenda off active duty; Fritz meets Brenda’s father for the first time. Starring Kyra Sedgwick, J.K. Simmons, Corey Reynolds, Robert Gossett and G.W. Bailey.
