THE MICHAEL VICK CASE

Co-defendants set to plead guilty

By Friday, Michael Vick could be the last one standing in the dogfighting case. The NFL QB’s remaining two co-defendants have set court dates to change their pleas to guilty in federal conspiracy charges related to dogfighting. If the judge accepts the pleas, Vick will be the only defendant left facing trial. Meanwhile, the NFL has yet to complete its investigation of Vick.

Poll

Is Vick getting special treatment?

Many Americans say Michael Vick’s high profile has led to preferential treatment from the authorities, and few say his profession is a disadvantage, according to the latest New York Times/CBS News poll. “If all those dogs had been found buried in the yard of an average person, that person would have already been in jail,” Jackie Syron, 36, from Mesa, Ariz., said in a follow-up interview after the poll was completed. “It’s a heinous crime, but he’ll probably just get fines and probation.”

44%

said Vick was being handled the same as anyone else.

36%

said Vick was being treated better than an average person.

9%

said Vick was being treated worse than an average person.
