On chicagosports.com’s Bears message boards:
“I don’t think [coach] Lovie [Smith] will have the patience with Rex this year. Last year was all about developing him and finding out what we have with him. This year it’s [a Super Bowl] win or bust. I think some posters are correct that he gets rattled and can’t recover. NOT GOOD. You’d think playing at a big-time program like Florida, he would have gotten over that. I’m almost positive Rex will be on a very short leash until he shows consistent improvement.”

“You’ll recall a little game called the Super Bowl when Rex similarly unraveled before the world in a still-close game? If we didn’t have a highly paid, competent QB in [Brian] Griese, I guess we’d just have to shut up and live with this nonsense. But we don’t have to. We’ve got a viable choice here. Fans say Grossman has upside, and Griese doesn’t. I say the plot’s a lot thicker than that. Griese has overcome a drinking problem. I’m not sure he’s had his best season yet because of that.”

“Maybe Mike Tomzak could share the name of his shrink with Rex.”
