In just his second major-league start, Jair Jurrjens took a no-hitter into the sixth inning as the Tigers beat the Indians 2-1 to move within a half-game of first-place Cleveland. The righty allowed one hit, a homer, in 6 2/3 innings, walked four and struck out one.
Erik Bedard struck out 11 over seven innings to win his ninth straight as the Orioles beat Texas 6-2. Bedard (13-4) increased his AL-leading strikeout total to 218 and has fanned 26 in two games vs. Texas this season. The left-hander is 9-0 in 12 starts since June 15.
Carlos Beltran had five RBIs as the Mets beat the Padres 7-6. Beltran, who homered in his last two at-bats Sunday at Washington, hit a two-run first-inning shot off Chris Young, who entered leading the majors with a 1.93 ERA. He also had a two-run double in the third.

Arizona third baseman Mark Reynolds tied a major-league mark for consecutive strikeouts by a non-pitcher at nine when he whiffed in the fourth inning against the Brewers. He fanned his final at-bat Saturday in Atlanta, twice more Sunday, four times Monday and twice Tuesday.
Rangers right-hander Vicente Padilla (3-9), in his second start after a 51-day stint on the disabled list, allowed six runs, three in the first inning, on seven hits and four walks in five innings against the Orioles. Texas has been outscored 93-47 in the first inning this year.
Braves left-hander Jo-Jo Reyes, called up from Triple A to start after Chuck James went on the disabled list, lasted only 2 2/3 innings in a 8-7 loss. The Reds scored five times in the third when Reyes walked three batters to set the rally in motion.
