*The inaugural Barrington Concours D’Elegance: Legends & Legacies will be held Sept. 14 to 16. The Concours D’Elegance classic car exhibit will be on display from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., a Ride & Drive event sponsored by Porsche and a book signing by photographer Michael Furman Sept. 16 at the golf club. VIP tickets for the Concours D’Elegance cost $75 in advance and $80 on Sept. 16. General admission tickets cost $25 and $30. Ages 11 and younger are free. *The Literacy Connection of Elgin will hold an orientation session for adult literacy tutors from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Sept. 5 in the Schaumburg Township Hanover Park Branch Library, 1266 Irving Park Rd. Training workshops will follow evenings on Sept. 10, 12, 17, 19, 24 and 26. Once trained, tutors are matched with a student for tutoring one to two hours a week at a time and place of their choosing.
