His lawyer, Blair Berk, gave Judge Lawrence Mira documents showing the 51-year-old Gibson was meeting the terms of his probation. Gibson has been required to check in with the court periodically since his July 28, 2006, misdemeanor drunken-driving arrest on the Pacific Coast Highway.
*New Mexico Atty. Gen. Gary King has reopened an investigation into whether the CBS reality show “Kid Nation” violated the state’s child-labor laws and other state regulations governing the welfare of children, a spokesman for the attorney general said on Thursday.
*Natalie Dessay, Anna Netrebko and Nathan Gunn will perform Sept. 16 at a tribute to Beverly Sills at New York’s Metropolitan Opera House. Met music director James Levine will play the piano. Sills died July 2.
*”Cinema Paradiso” director Giuseppe Tornatore got mugged while he was walking in an upscale neighborhood in central Rome. Tornatore, 51, was taken to a hospital in the Italian capital after two young men attacked him Tuesday evening, the daily newspaper Corriere della Sera reported. He suffered head trauma as well as several minor injuries.
