Downers Grove South’s Mark Dismang saw the sign, and that was all Downers Grove South needed for a 1-0 title-game victory over Morton in the Red Devil Classic at Hinsdale Central.
While setting up for a sideline restart, Dismang spotted teammate Steve Lucianek in the box in the 13th minute.
“Steve raised his hand and told me put it back post, and he finished it,” said Dismang of the header that led to his third assist of the season. “It was nice.”
Junior Brett Petricek recorded his third shutout for the Mustangs (5-0).

*Best of the West Tournament: Goalkeeper Andy Read made for an improbable hero for Neuqua Valley in the championship game at Naperville Central. The senior, who hadn’t played through regulation and two overtimes, came out with starting goalie Jack Turanchik for the penalty kicks that would break a 2-2 deadlock with Central.
“I’ve always been good at PKs,” Read said. “I let Jack take the first one. He saw the whole game. I saved the next one and he said, ‘You take the rest.'”
Second-ranked Neuqua (4-0-1) won the shootout 5-4 with tallies from Jaymie Bullard, Tanner Fink, Brett Shugh, Bret Hruby and Miguel Joaquin. No. 3 Naperville Central (5-1) got goals from Tim Zimmer, Jerry Maddi, Chris Prince and Joe Wehrli.
