A Michigan wildfire was one of three across the country that authorities said Sunday are nearly contained.

The Upper Peninsula fire, which has burned more than 28 square miles in Luce County, was 95 percent contained Sunday, the state Department of Natural Resources said. It was believed to have started Aug. 2 with a lightning strike.

In California, a wildfire that has been burning for two months in Los Padres National Forest was fully contained Sunday evening, officials said.

In central Idaho, authorities expected containment on Monday of a wildfire that forced the evacuation of 2,500 homes.
