JAMES THOMPSON BACKS GIULIANI: Republican presidential contender Rudolph Giuliani stopped in the Chicago area Thursday to receive the endorsement of a fellow former federal prosecutor, former Illinois Gov. James Thompson. Giuliani briefly visited Mauro Sewer Construction Inc. in Des Plaines, where he greeted about 70 supporters and employees before accepting Thompson’s endorsement.
LACKING RELIGION? People view Hillary Clinton and Rudolph Giuliani as the least religious of the major presidential candidates, according to a poll released Thursday. Mitt Romney was seen as most religious, but his Mormonism may hurt him with voters. Seven in 10 in the non-partisan Pew Research Center poll said they believe it is important for a president to have strong religious beliefs.
