COLORADO GOP JUMPS: Joining the rush to the front of presidential nominating calendar, the Colorado Republican Party has moved its presidential caucuses up five weeks to Feb. 5. Thus far, 22 states, including Colorado, are scheduled to hold nomination contests on the first Tuesday in February, effectively creating a national primary. Several other states — including Florida and Michigan — are further roiling the calendar by leapfrogging ahead to January. That has caused Iowa and New Hampshire to consider moving up and raised the possibility that the first votes in the 2008 presidential race may be cast before New Year’s.

HSU WAITS: Wealthy political donor and fugitive Norman Hsu remained hospitalized Friday in Grand Junction, Colo., while federal and state authorities wrangled over details of extraditing him to California. Hsu, 56, was arrested Thursday after he became ill on an Amtrak train while traveling from San Francisco to Denver.
