MON 9/10

Sup with your pup

It’s official. Come next year, Fido can tag along when you dine alfresco. Give your pooch a chance to try out his table manners early at Take Your Dog to Dinner. Leashed, licensed and well-behaved dogs are welcome outdoors at participating restaurants, including Club Lucky (1824 W. Wabansia Ave.), Le Lan (749 N. Clark St.) and Crust (2056-58 W. Division St.). Proceeds benefit Chenny Troupe, an animal-assisted therapy organization. 5 p.m. $20 donation per dog. Full list of restaurants: takeyourdogtodinner.com. 773-404-6467.

Rebel yell

Give a shout for the Chicago Improv Rebellion. Comic Nick Hausman hosts the weekly evening of improv by Hodge Podge, billed as Chicago’s “edgiest improvisers,” and live music by punk band Death by Thunder. This week, Hodge Podge shares the stage with Droppin’ $cience, an improv team from Columbia College. 10:30 p.m. $5. I.O., 3541 N. Clark St. 773-880-0199.

Friends forever?

As anyone who’s had a bad breakup will tell you, sometimes you just can’t stay friends. Still, the main character in “Some Girl(s)” tries to make amends with some of his former flames by traveling across the country to see them. Previews for the dark comedy, penned by Neil LaBute (who also wrote and directed “In the Company of Men”), begin Monday. Opens Friday. 8 p.m. Through Oct. 28. $10-$25. Profiles Theatre, 4147 N. Broadway. 773-549-1815.

Ball ‘n’ bowl

If you’re usually willing to look past your local pub’s fuzzy TV because you can stumble home after the game, Monday Night Football at 10pin Bowling Lounge might change your ways. The lounge has eight giant screens spanning 24 lanes, yet still boasts neighborhood bar-style deals, such as 50 cent wings and $2.50 Miller bottles. Bowl for $4 per game, and at half time, try your luck in a football toss for a chance to win $10,000. Through Dec. 17. No cover. 330 N. State St. 312-644-0300.

Book it

If you didn’t put much of a dent in your summer reading list (or, uh, even make one), start catching up with Junot Diaz. Meet the best-selling author when he reads from and signs his new novel (“The Brief Wondrous Life of Oscar Wao”) about “ghetto nerd” character Oscar de Leon and his search for love. 6 p.m. Free. Harold Washington Library Center Cindy Pritzker Auditorium, 400 S. State St. 312-747-4050.

TUE 9/11

Sleek geek

When you’re preoccupied with your pocket protector, it can be tough to be slick with a potential honey. The Flirting for Nerds workshop can help. Dating expert Rebecca Steinmetz gives tips and advice on reading body language, breaking the ice and working your mojo to get your love life moving. 7:30 p.m. $10-$15. Pre-registration required. Early to Bed, 5232 N. Sheridan Rd. 773-271-1219.
