GO AHEAD, TRY A SCARF
As if starlets such as the Olsen twins, Nicole Richie and Kirsten Dunst haven’t foisted enough silly fashion trends upon the masses, they’ve brought us one more fashion do: the summer scarf. And it’s transitioning into the fall. Here’s how to hit the style’s highlights.
1. Choose a lightweight scarf. Pick something sheer, thin or knit.
2. Use it as an accent with a tank top, jeans and heels or a flirty summer dress.
3. Choose “pop” colors (deep purple, chartreuse, burnt orange or metallic) to accent an outfit, or choose a shorter scarf that can double as a kerchief.
4. Keep the rest of your outfit simple. Don’t overaccessorize.
5. Don’t be afraid of an ethnic print or fringe. They’re popular this fall.

A cute headband can take a case of bed head from messy to chic in a matter of moments. But unless you’re a college sophomore, pulling off the look can be difficult. Especially if you work in an office. Anna Soo Wildermuth, an image consultant who specializes in businesswomen, offered some tips.
— Don’t wear a headband that shouts too loudly. You want people to notice your face.
— Tortoiseshell headbands are classic and understated, and work with just about any hair color.
— Narrow headbands also work well with business attire.
— If you choose a wide headband that’s covered in fabric, coordinate that to your clothing.
