Mary Ann Childers of CBS-2 Chicago will deliver the keynote address at the kick-off luncheon of the Professional Women’s Club of Chicago’s 10th anniversary. Childers will discuss, “Behind the Scenes in Broadcasting: An Insider’s Take on the News, How It’s Covered, Who Decides and Why. The Role Women Play in the News Today.”
Childers is an award-winning Chicago broadcaster who joined CBS-2 as an anchor and reporter in 1994. She is currently its medical editor and special projects reporter. Childers also spent 14 years at Chicago’s WLS-TV, where she anchored its 10 p.m. newscast.
The event begins at 11:45 a.m. on Wednesday at the Union League Club of Chicago, 65 W. Jackson Blvd. The cost to attend is $40 for members and $55 for guests. Reservations are required by Monday and can be made by calling 312-263-1808 or visiting www.pwcc.org.
