Briggs’ lips sealed about Lamborghini

Bears linebacker Lance Briggs refused to tell police why he fled after crashing his new Lamborghini last month, according to documents obtained by the Tribune under the Freedom of Information Act.

According to the documents, Briggs told Illinois State Police during an interview that he was driving in the left lane of the northbound Edens Expressway and wanted to pass a car in front of him. When he switched to the right lane to pass, he lost control of the $350,000 car and crashed near the Devon Avenue exit, according to the documents.

After the crash, Briggs fled before calling police to tell them it was his wrecked car sitting along the grass embankment to the east of the expressway.
