THREE UP

The Devil Rays’ Scott Kazmir struck out 10 and allowed just two runners to reach second base in a 1-0 win over the Red Sox. It was Boston’s first 1-0 home loss since Sept. 2, 2001, when New York’s Mike Mussina lost a perfect game with two outs in the ninth inning.

Pat Burrell has turned his season around. He hit a two-out, game-tying three-run homer in the seventh and the Phillies beat the Rockies 6-5 in the 10th. Manager Charlie Manuel: “I remember when you guys were hollering for me to bench him. He’s come a long way.”

THREE DOWN

Once again, Magglio Ordonez delivered. He ripped a two-run single to cap a four-run ninth-inning rally in the Tigers’ 5-4 win over Toronto. Ordonez also hit his 48th double (most in majors), went 4-for-5 and raised his big-league-leading average to .359. Too bad for …

… Blue Jays ace Roy Halladay, who was one out away from his eighth complete game of the season before Detroit rallied. The right-hander missed out on improving to 12-2 against the Tigers. He has lasted at least eight innings in his last six starts, yet only one was a win.

Chipper Jones and Andruw Jones were scratched from the lineup minutes before the first pitch, leaving the Braves without two big boppers before a 3-2 loss to the Mets. Chipper Jones strained a muscle on his side during batting practice; Andruw Jones had the flu.

Ubaldo Jimenez had his fastball humming in the triple digits and shut down Philly’s potent lineup through six innings, but the Rockies’ bullpen collapsed in the seventh. LaTroy Hawkins and Jeremy Affeldt put two on before Jorge Julio served up Burrell’s tying homer.
