Sippio getting his day in sun
Bobby Sippio has scored 46 touchdowns in the Chicago area and might get to add to his total Sunday at Soldier Field. The Chiefs on Tuesday called up the Rush star from their practice squad to replace injured ex-Bear Eddie Kennison. Sippio is expected to be the fourth receiver and contribute on special teams. The Chiefs had four dropped passes in losing to the Texans, so Sippio could get a chance. “He has great hands,” coach Herm Edwards said. “He can go inside and catch the ball. He’s fearless.” Sippio says he can make plays in the NFL like he did in the Arena League. “We’re all athletes,” he said. “I don’t appreciate it when people degrade the talent level [in AFL]. It’s just two different ways of playing football.”

Deng & Co. best Sefolosha & Co.
Luol Deng and Thabo Sefolosha were pitted against each other Tuesday night, representing their countries in the first of a two-game playoff series to earn a place in European basketball’s top division. Deng got the better of his Bulls teammate, posting 31 points and 12 boards to lead Great Britain to a 74-41 win over Sefolosha’s Switzerland team in Sheffield, England. Sefolosha did produce a dunk on Deng in the first quarter. Deng returned the compliment in the fourth.”We lost by 30 which is tough,” said Sefalosha, who had 21 points. “But it was great seeing Luol again .”

Rivera: Rex ‘a mental midget’
It’s one thing for fans and media to question Rex Grossman but it takes on greater meaning when doubt comes from within the league — especially from a guy who observed Grossman firsthand for three seasons. Chargers linebackers coach Ron Rivera, the Bears defensive coordinator from 2004-2006, apparently instructed the San Diego defense to get inside Grossman’s head, according to a story in Tuesday’s North County (Calif.) Times. “Coach told us that Rex was kind of a mental midget, so you can get into his head and create that doubt,” Chargers linebacker Matt Wilhelm said. “That is what I tried to do — I was talking to him a lot of times, I was talking to whomever.” Ouch.
